What can a fertility patient expect when she comes to your clinic?
<\/strong>The first thing we do is listen to her and understand her situation. No two cases are the same. That is why we carry out a detailed, personalised assessment. Our aim is to find the best treatment for each woman and her specific needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And how do you decide on the most appropriate treatment?
<\/strong>The first stage involves reviewing the patient\u2019s medical history and carrying out the necessary tests to assess her reproductive health. This stage also helps us to understand her experiences, her concerns and what she expects from the support we can offer her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does Dexeus offer that other centers do not?
<\/strong>What sets us apart is that we are a center exclusively specialized in women’s health, offering Gynecology, Obstetrics, and Reproductive Medicine services, as well as a specialized unit dedicated to male sexual and reproductive health. This allows us to cover every aspect of reproductive care through a multidisciplinary team\u2014including gynecologists, andrologists, biologists, obstetricians, imaging specialists, geneticists, psychologists, and more\u2014who work in a highly coordinated way. This structure streamlines the entire process and provides patients with a more comprehensive approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once the medical assessment has been completed, what is the next step?
<\/strong>We inform the patient of all the options available in her specific case and explain which treatment is most likely to succeed and best suited to her personal circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What if she chooses the option with the lowest chance of success?
<\/strong>When our patients make a decision, they do so based on thorough information. What matters most to us is that they fully understand the information they receive: the advantages and disadvantages of each option, the alternatives available, and the outcomes they can expect. Sometimes, the chances of having a child using one’s own eggs are practically nonexistent. In those situations, we are always honest because we do not want treatment to continue indefinitely without realistic prospects. However, if the patient still wishes to proceed, we will support her choice. Our role is to accompany, guide, and advise while respecting the patient’s autonomy as much as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fertility treatments can be demanding. How do you manage their impact?
<\/strong>We are fully aware of the physical and emotional toll that fertility treatments can take. That is why our goal is to help patients achieve their objective with the least possible burden\u2014in other words, with the fewest treatment attempts. We never lose sight of both the physical and emotional aspects of the journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you receive many patients who have already been treated at other centers?
<\/strong>Yes. Approximately 25% of our patients come to us after unsuccessful treatments elsewhere. Our team specializes in complex cases and women of advanced maternal age, which allows us to offer an expert, realistic, yet hopeful perspective. In addition, we are actively involved in numerous research projects\u2014both in-house and multicenter studies\u2014many of which focus specifically on complex patient profiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What advantages does research provide?
<\/strong>Having the ability to conduct clinical research benefits not only patients but also healthcare professionals. It enables us to stay at the forefront of scientific advances and actively participate in leading professional societies within our field. Ultimately, it keeps us up to date with the latest publications and recommendations, allowing us to offer what we believe is the best possible approach for each individual case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More and more centers are choosing to transfer a single embryo. Does this reduce the chances of achieving pregnancy?
<\/strong>We almost always transfer a single embryo\u2014the one with the highest quality and greatest potential for success. This decision is based on scientific evidence and patient safety, as it has been shown to reduce risks and increase the likelihood of a healthy, ongoing pregnancy without complications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How important is technology in your day-to-day practice?
<\/strong>Extremely important. At Dexeus Mujer, we have state-of-the-art technology and have incorporated artificial intelligence (AI) systems that help us optimize embryo selection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Human Side
Personalized Support Throughout Treatment and Details That Enhance the Experience<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

How do you address the human side of the process?
<\/strong>It is essential. We provide personalized support throughout the entire treatment journey through roles such as our Fertility Coach\u2014a dedicated professional who assists with administrative procedures and helps answer any questions patients may have along the way. We also offer additional tools, such as an embryo development tracking app that allows patients to follow the progress of their embryos, a direct chat with our Nursing Team for treatment-related questions, and explanatory videos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What about situations where difficult news must be communicated, such as a failed treatment or embryos that are not developing properly?
<\/strong>At Dexeus Mujer, we have a Psychology Unit that provides IVF patients with complimentary emotional support sessions. In addition, our Biology team personally contacts patients to explain how the process is progressing in the laboratory and to provide first-hand information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do you manage patients’ expectations?
<\/strong>With honesty and realism. Statistics can provide guidance, but every case is unique. The most important thing is that patients are properly informed. This allows them to actively participate in decision-making and manage their expectations more effectively, which undoubtedly contributes to a better overall experience, regardless of the outcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
